The City of Bonney Lake is looking for four enthusiastic Park Ambassadors to help keep our parks safe, welcoming, and enjoyable for everyone! -As a Park Ambassador, you'll be the friendly face ensuring our public spaces stay beautiful and well-maintained. You'll have the opportunity to interact with parkgoers, provide helpful information, and promote responsible park use-all while soaking up the sunshine!

  • Be part of a passionate team dedicated to keeping Bonney Lake's parks thrivingIf you love nature, people, and the idea of spending your summer making a difference, this role is perfect for you!The Seasonal Park Ambassador is an hourly non-exempt, seasonal position with a projected average of 40 hours per week.

    Schedules include:
    Saturday - Wednesday 10:00am to 6:30pm
    Wednesday - Sunday 10:00am to 6:30pm
    Hours may vary depending on need of the Parks.

    SUPERVISION RECEIVED
    Works under the general supervision of the assigned Crew Lead and Assistant Superintendent of Public Works.

    SUPERVISION EXERCISED
    None.
    • Ensure facility and grounds are kept neat, clean and litter free; perform restroom monitoring, litter pick-up, and other assigned tasks.
    • Must be customer service oriented with a positive and cheerful attitude when working with the public.
    • Provide information to the public concerning activities, programs, policies, regulations, and schedules.
    • Understand and explain park rules.
    • Provide assistance to customers utilizing the City's paid parking platform.
    • Monitor the total number of visitors granted access to the Allan York Park beach area.
    • Monitor the Allan Yorke Park boat launch and boat trailer parking area to ensure that vehicles are displaying required parking passes.
    • Report safety violations, unruly behavior, and unauthorized access to the boat trailer parking area and the beach area to the Bonney Lake Police Department.
    • Inspect various park locations.
    • Assist with picnic shelter rentals and special events within the City's park system as directed.
    • Communicate and represent the City effectively while interacting with park visitors and external partners.PERIPHERAL DUTIES
      May be called to assist with light maintenance activities within the park.
      DESIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
      Education and Experience:
      • High School graduate or equivalency, and
      • Customer service experienceNecessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
        This position requires considerable knowledge, ability and skill in the principles and practices of excellent customer service as practiced in both the private and public sectors. -
        Ability to: -
        • Understand and follow oral and written instructions.
        • Communicate clearly and concisely.
        • Work independently and to complete daily activities according to work schedule.
        • Effectively meet and deal with internal customers and the public while responding to customers in a friendly and professional manner.
        • Handle stressful situations while establishing effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, and the public. -
        • Maintain a professional, courteous, and pleasant demeanor in difficult, stressful situations while diplomatically dealing with individuals. -A willingness is expected to expend extra effort to help the public find answers or information related to their inquiry or complaint.SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
          Valid Washington State Driver's License and a driving record acceptable to the City's insurance. Must be 18 years of age or older.

          PHYSICAL DEMANDS
          The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Frequently works on uneven and steep surfaces that are often wet and slippery. Physical ability to walk, climb, bend, stoop, kneel, and crouch. -

          WORK ENVIRONMENT
          The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The work is performed outdoors in all weather conditions and requires light physical labor. -Assignments may occasionally require work in inclement weather. This position requires the physical ability to perform manual tasks, and mobility to navigate all types of surfaces and terrain. -
