The responsibilities of the PD typically involve traveling and work in both the field and office. The PD is responsible for report writing and having a solid understanding of the basics of cultural resource management.For small- and medium-sized projects, the PD may assume additional tasks typically assigned to a Principal Investigator (PI), although you will work under the mentorship of the PI for that project. For larger projects, the PD will work in tandem with experienced project directors and/or the PI to ensure that all the tasks associated with the project implementation are accomplished. We will provide the training you will need to meet our deadlines, remain on budget, and meet SRI's standard of care.Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • Master's degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, or a related field
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience performing cultural resource management
  • Knowledge of archaeological field and laboratory procedures, including mapping, photography and collection and handling of artifacts
  • Experience with archaeological classification, cataloging, and recording processes.
  • Experience with employing various surveying and mapping techniques and equipment.
  • Registered Professional Archeologist
  • Experience successfully managing time-critical situations to fulfill deadline requirements.
  • Meets Secretary of Interior Professional Qualifications Standards
  • Ability to be permitted by multiple federal, state, and/or local agencies.
  • Experience successfully managing and supervising field crews.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and familiarity with federal/state laws, regulations, policies, and procedures for the preservation and management of historic/cultural resources.
  • Physical fitness to work long hours in challenging environments, including extreme temperatures, rough terrain, and high altitudes, while carrying 40 lbs. of equipment
  • Strong organizational skills, positive outlook, strong work ethic, and a willingness to learn and take on new tasks.Compensation:
    • Salary $69,500 to $75,000, depending on experience and education.
    • PTO Accrual begins first day of employment.
